Marriage Seminar Update

By: Dr. Johnny Moffitt

In December WVIW held its annual Marriage Retreat for the correctional officers and staff of The Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  Once we were able to provide this retreat at no cost to these couples.  There were participants from prison units across the state.  There were couples ranging from wardens secretaries to lieutenants, to chaplains.  Even though there was a wide range of job titles represented, the problems facing these couples were the same.

The Marriage Retreat for Texas Correctional Staff was held at the beautiful Lakeview Christian Conference and Retreat Center in Waco, Texas.  This was our fifth retreat at this camp.  The retreat was from Friday afternoon till Sunday after lunch.  Each couple had their own room and classes were held in a beautiful conference room.

Many couples found healing from very challenging circumstances.  Several made decisions for Christ.  All had a wonderful time away from a very stressful work situation.

Here are just a few of the many comments we received after the Marriage Retreat.

“I loved the ministry. Especially the one that Johnny & Michael ministered about "Forgiveness."

The entire retreat was very informative.”

“The small group was amazing and helped us to connect with others in the difficulties.”

“The clarity in how to ask for what I need and work in the process of forgiveness.  The forgiveness factor.”

“I learned how to communicate.  I need to ask to talk to my husband and let him know I want him to listen and not solve problems.”

“I'm grateful for this retreat.  I do feel it has really helped in show us to put each other first, well second after God.”

“Thank you for helping our marriage grow.”

Your gifts make this ministry to these very special people.  Thank you so much.

2018 is a very special year for me and WVIW

In June I will turn 75 and WVIW will be 40.  It seems like only yesterday that God birthed in me the ministry of prisons around the world.  Now 40 years later, we are just beginning.  We have more opportunities to make a difference than ever before; more open doors, more invitations, and more favor.  God is so good!
