Our First Marriage Seminar in a Texas Prison

In early 1995, WVIW held our first Marriage Seminar in a Texas prison, in the Hughes Unit in Gatesville.

We had about 25 couples and about 20 volunteers.  It was a great success.  Immediately, prisons across Texas were asking for a Marriage Seminar.  As a result, we have held over 100 seminars in over 30 prisons and hosted over 2500 couples.

These Marriage Seminars are now a major part of this prison ministry and we stay booked over two years in advance.

If you would like to be part of this wonderful ministry to the lives of hurting couples, just go to our web-site, www.wviw.com. and sign up on the "Volunteers" page.

Less than 3% of marriages will survive prison, but WVIW Marriage Seminars are changing that in Texas.

Come join us.

WVIW Marriage Seminar

Below is a sweet note we received from a wife from a recent marriage seminar. This is the reason we do what we have done since 1978.

"Betty,  Just a note to say thanks to you, Johnny and the entire volunteer staff.  It was even more exciting and informational then I had expected.  I honestly thought it would be dull, boring, school text info, but it was nothing but exciting, powerful and extremely informative.  The volunteers told awesome testimonies, and were down to earth, kind and caring.  Every moment from start to finish each and every day held my attention, made me think, and opened my heart. I believe your seminar has truly helped my husband and I to see where we can and will improve our marriage. Spending time loving on him was just an added bonus. Ya'll have been a blessing that I will never forget, and will always have in my heart."

With a lot of love,

L.A.

We are very excited to announce a Marriage Seminar at Mill Valley Fellowship Church. It will be held on April 27th through the 29th in the Farmers Branch area of DFW and we want you there.

There are no restrictions based on faith, or how many years you have been married. Betty always says, you dont even have to be happy at all, and that is what we mean! You can have the greatest marriage or feel like you have the worst marriage on the earth and you will still come away with a renewed hope and vigor for your relationship.

It is FREE to attend, and you will be glad you did. Sign Up by emailing me or calling the office at 972 234 6009.

Thank You very much

WVIW Marriage Seminar Volunteers
WVIW hosts between 4 and 5 Marriage Seminars in prisons and for prison staff every year. Each marriage seminar is planned very similarly, however, each one turns out very uniquely.
This uniqueness comes for a variety of reasons one of the main being our volunteers.
Each volunteer comes to  Worldwide Voice In the Wilderness  from a different background and for several different reasons. I think it is safe to say that one attribute that is shared by ALL of our volunteers is that GOD has shown Himself to each volunteer in a HUGE way in their lives.
A comment by a dear friend to our ministry this week made a huge impact in summing up what it means to be a volunteer for  @wviw

There are those whose lives affect all others around them. Quietly touching one heart, who in turn, touches another. Reaching out to ends further than they would ever know.

Below are a few comments from several Marriage Seminar Volunteers which may explain why they keep coming back to help us host these highly impactful seminars.

“I told God you Gotta show me how to change and  boy did He show me ." B.G.
"My self esteem was down below my toes. I was a very broken person who didn’t think God could love me  but He gave my life meaning and purpose . When everything was falling apart  God didn’t leave me .” B.C.G.
“I love Jesus cause he let’s me be me.  I found out I could be a Christian and be myself .” C.N.
“I love the Lord for delivering me and for saving me. He revealed himself to me over the years time, after time, after time.  I didn’t want to go the right direction but He boxed me in and didnt let me go .” N.N.
“[When I grew Up] God was never spoken of unless it was in a curseword. I was in jail and I began to learn that God loved me and He  wanted  me.  I was so bad and He still wanted me .  So I will spend every day of my life loving him back .” N.A.

Breakthrough Group

Below are several reactions to day 2 of our marriage seminar at Ellis Unit. We spent all day in prison and had such a fantastic day!

Tonight were at the First Baptist Church listening to the wives and I am amazed and blessed by these heroes!

Here is a sample of what they had to say tonight!

“It pulled even more layers away for me…that is a good thing.”

“The healing began this weekend!”

“Im gonna leave here a better person. A more free person."

"The old me was a very mean person…I have been declawed”

“I had a breakthrough tonight!!”

We are very excited to be here and be able to meet up with 28 wives who are heading here to spend three days with their husbands. We were at this unit late last year in November, and were able to meet many of the couples who will bee back this weekend. We are looking forward to seeing our friends as well as making new friends. Please keep us in your prayers today. We will be heading to the prison at 2pm.
